Fall

(we heart it)
Dear Fall,
Stick around for awhile...

I have never appreciated the beauty of fall.  I think this all stems back to grade school when I held on to summer as my only source of freedom, and as the sun died down and the swimming pools became covered..that is when fall approached and my world seemed to come tumbling down from sun, pools, and sprinklers...into homework and school. <---I have never been a true lover ;)

Fast forward to adulthood and as the summer sizzling heat pours into my car and onto my leather seats that awaits for me after work, just so I can feel the joy of burned legs...well that's when I know I have had enough of the summer heat and I jump for joy when those leaves start turning and the crisp air greets me after a long day :)

I can certainly appreciate all aspects of fall...

I love wrapping myself up in a huge sweater at night and endulging in a calorie consuming giant cup of hot chocolate <---gotta get the real stuff...no sugar free at my house

I love coming home and admiring my mums coming into full bloom and my flowers not turning brown in that dreaded summer heat

And as fall always reminded me of that knot in my stomach that came with the first day of school and loss of freedom, well it still brings me the warm feeling that Christmas is just around the corner and I really love that feeling ;)

Happy Fall!

Pink Pink Pink

Hello fellow blog readers!  Sorry for being so out of sync with my blog...school has been harder than expected...thus blogging has taken a toll.

Before October ended I had to post something about:
  Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Have you seen those cute NFL players sporting their PINK?

or how about PINK PINK PINK everywhere

i LOVE it!

My mother-in-law and I recently did the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure.  We joined the other 16,000 supporters on an early Saturday Morning.  The weather was nice to us, the sunshine kept us warm from the morning chill.

We tiptoed around people all morning and it took some time to get to the actual race path, but I couldn't complain about the crowd that day...I would rather be smooshed up against people sharing an experience of a great cause then sit next to someone smelly at a football game :)

I have done the race before, but just as a supporter of a cause.   This year I was a supporter of my mother-in-law, because she is a survivor of breast cancer, which made this race even more special.  We walked the "survivor walk" proudly and took in all the people celebrating the lives of women who have been effected by this disease.  I also had a great time celebrating the fact the she kicked cancer's BUTT!

At this point, there are far too many people who know of women that have survived or sadly lost their battle to breast cancer...which is FAR too many!  Help support a great cause and let's FIND THE CURE!

Trade in your fall orange and wear some PINK!

Fellow Walkers...

Each survivor received a rose at the end of the walk

Can't wait until next year!

Back to Books

School School School

What have I been up to lately?........School...School...School...

For two people who hate school as much as William and I....

we sure do find ourselves back there a lot.....

"Justification for Higher Education" these words stuck to the back of my head as my mother hammered them in throughout undergrad.

Yes, ladies and gents:  I am back at school...back at OU...now getting my masters.

As my brother put it:  "I thought you liked having your weekends and evenings to yourself?"  I do...trust me... I do.

Now, hopefully this is not as painful as undergrad was.  I am actually interested in the classes that I am taking and I feel like this degree will take me places...i hope.

I still remember the day, my last day of undergrad.  I had just finished giving my oral presentation for a research project.  I exited the glass doors of Gaylord and the dry winter air loomed around me.  Instead of shivering on that cold December day, I had a burst of warmth that flooded through me as I gave the biggest smile and thought to myself,  "I. AM. DONE.".  I could have swung around on the light posts, and sang "I'm singing in the Rain"...yea... that kind of warm bubbly feeling. I wish someone would have told me my future right then and there, so I could walk home cold and miserable...(a bit mellow dramatic...yes...I know).  Now fast forward 3 years (I still can't believe it's been that long) and I am back roaming the halls of OU. So these days my head is stuck in smelly school books and I get to re-live the college experience.

I just hope I don't convince myself to get a Ph.D., then I really might turn myself into a Psych ward for going crazy enough to put myself through that...but we will see :).  That is the thing about working for a higher education, you can easily get swayed to do crazy things like go back to school, especially after seeing someones name end with: MD, Ph.D., and DDS <----can you say over achiever?

Happy Friday!!

Football Time in Oklahoma....

Semi Wordless Wednesday

There's Only ONE Oklahoma

In three days, I will be sitting up high at Owen Field, wearing my crimson and cream, standing among 85,000 fans screaming BOOMER SOONER, melting in the sun, but getting chills when I see this:

*thanks you tube for the terrible formatting

Yep, it's that time of year....the time of year where William and I devote ourselves every Saturday to College Football...

The time of year where reunions are in check and friends come from near and far to celebrate
tradition that is....OU Game Day

The time of year that makes me giddy with excitement come July...

The time of year where I hope that OU will have a Heisman candidate, just so I can hear Billy Sims yell "Booma"..."Booma"..."Booma"...a thousand times.

The time of year where there is extra Longhorn Bashing...Texas Sucks Action...hating any team that has the color "orange", and have internal excitement when ESPN airs anything OU Football...and did I mention Texas Sucks?....because they do.....

WHOOPS I MEANT THIS:

just a little tebow humor...gonna miss that this year....

William and I could not be more excited about Saturday!

August 25, 2010

Another year bites the dust...

Oh 26, how that sounds so much older than 25.  I am no longer in my early 20's, but now I have reached my mid 20's (I believe 25 is still "early").  There's still a positive note to this aging process or what I prefer to call "number games":  I still get carded, which means I still look like I am 20...no wait 19?  Could it last forever?  I am one girl with a lot of birthday fever so....

I can't say I didn't celebrate in true birthday form.  This was the first year that I wanted to hide in the bushes and forget about it all, but a great husband, great friends, and great family changed that thought real fast! William made it as special as it could be, and I had friends come from near and far to celebrate my day, and it all ended on such a good note with my family!

It all helped ease the pain of leaving my young 25 year old self and welcoming my older and wiser 26 year old self ;)

William made a great birthday cake ;)!
My sister-in-law also made me one amazing looking birthday cake!
Ladies and Gentlemen: She bakes...She makes adorable baby clothes... & She handles 5 kids....I give you SUPER MOM and I thank her for staying up till the wee hours in order to make my amazing cake!
Baby Kate oh how I love her!  Don't we look related? HA!

M.I.A.

Are you sizzling yet?  Or better yet Melting?  Is it really dreaded August already?  Sorry for being M.i.A....July was one spectacular month full of celebrations!  4th of July....First Wedding Anniversary...and well my birthday as well...here's the update...

July 11, 2010
William and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary
We did it.
We Survived.
We slowly eliminated those tall tall tales of first year of marriage.

The momentous occasion snuck up on us way too fast, oh how time flies!
The day was spent in the dreaded heat that mirrored the heat of our wedding day.  Of course on both occasions, the heat was the last thing on our mind.  We (of course) spent most of the day at the golf course.  William playing and me spectating, enjoying some cocktails...*cough cough*...bud light.

After witnessing William play his best game so far this summer...it was off to dinner!  I won't go into detail, but our romantic night turned into me getting sick at a very nice restaurant...yeah you heard me... sick...as in couldn't look at our three course meal once, and William had to practically drink the entire bottle of red we ordered as well...but that's why I married this man...always catching me when I fall...although this fall was delicious and yummy.  Good thing marriages last a lifetime, because we have a lot more anniversaries to perfect!

One Year Ago....

it all started here...

i wore this....

and he looked as handsome as ever...

i wiped her tears....

and he wiped mine...

they stood by his side....

and they stood by mine...

I walked down that aisle

and we united....

and then we became Mr & Mrs....

Here's to one anniversary down and a lot more to celebrate
